The Job

Acting as the hands-on senior authority on data analytics and data modeling. The immediate priority is elevating the quality, structure, and business value of Power BI reporting/dashboards - the data warehouse itself is stable and maintained by the Data Engineer. Production database administration sits with IT Infrastructure's DBA, outside this role's scope. This position translates business questions into well-modeled, reliable dashboards, mentors the team, and acts as the main point of contact between the data function and business stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Modeling & BI

• Design and review data models that support reporting (star schema, relationships, DAX measures) to replace ad hoc/inconsistent report logic.
• Personally build or closely review complex/critical dashboards, especially where current models are weak.
• Define standard KPI logic so metrics are consistent across dashboards (a lightweight "single source of truth" for definitions, not a new platform).
• Enable self-service reporting for business users where practical.

Data Engineering Oversight

• Oversee the Data Engineer's pipeline/warehouse work; do not need to build pipelines personally, but must be able to diagnose data issues and guide fixes.
• Ensure data quality issues surfaced in dashboards are traced back and resolved at the source (looping in the DBA's team only when the issue is confirmed to be on the production-database side).

Business Partnership

• Work directly with Marketing, Commercial, Finance, Operations to scope reporting needs.
• Present insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in English and Vietnamese.

Innovation (nice-to-have)

• Identify opportunities to apply automation or AI/ML to reporting workflows and analysis (e.g. anomaly detection, forecasting, report automation) as capacity allows - not a core deliverable of the role.

Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor the Data Engineer and 2 BI Analysts; set priorities and review work quality.
• Own workload prioritization across ad hoc requests and standing reports.

Your Skills and Experience

• 5+ years in Data Analytics/BI, including hands-on Power BI report and data model building; 2+ years leading or mentoring others.
• Strong Power BI + DAX (must be able to build and troubleshoot complex measures/models personally, not just direct others).
• Strong SQL; working knowledge of data pipeline/ETL concepts sufficient to oversee a Data Engineer.
• Experience in E-commerce, MarTech, AdTech, or Affiliate Marketing preferred.
• Exposure to AI/ML or automation tools applied to analytics is a plus, not required.
• Comfortable being a working senior IC as well as a manager - team is small, so this role stays hands-on.
• Bilingual communication (English/Vietnamese) with non-technical stakeholders.
