Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and capable Software Engineer to join our R&D team developing edge devices and network technologies for POS and Retail Solution Systems.
You will work on designing, building, and optimizing embedded software and Linux-based systems that power our next-generation retail platforms.
This position is ideal for young engineers who are eager to explore, research, and solve complex or niche technical problems that may not have ready-made solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain software components for edge devices and network systems within retail/POS environments.
• Build, customize, and optimize embedded Linux OS kernels according to device design and performance requirements.
• Develop and integrate device drivers, middleware, and network protocols.
• Implement performance tuning, debugging, and optimization for real-time and low-latency systems.
• Collaborate with hardware and system engineers to define system architecture and integration workflows.
• Research emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches for system improvement or problem-solving.
• Write and maintain high-quality documentation for software modules, configurations, and test procedures.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ (and preferably Python or Shell scripting).
• Familiarity with Linux kernel, device drivers, or embedded system programming.
• Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, wireless).
• Analytical thinking and the ability to research and design solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Eagerness to learn, experiment, and take ownership of problem-solving.
Preferred / Nice to Have:
• Experience building or customizing Linux distributions (Buildroot, Yocto, etc.).
• Knowledge of real-time systems, edge computing, or IoT frameworks.
• Experience with performance profiling, cross-compilation, or firmware debugging.
• Familiarity with POS devices, retail networks, or secure transaction systems is a plus.
• Contribution to open-source projects or personal R&D projects related to embedded systems.
Soft Skills:
• Curiosity-driven mindset with a passion for deep technical exploration.
• Team-oriented, with good communication and documentation habits.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working in a semi-structured R&D environment.

1. Lịch sử hình thành:
Được thành lập từ năm 2007, Toshiba Software Development (Việt Nam) (TSDV) là một trong 03 trung tâm lớn nghiên cứu phát triển phần mềm nằm ngoài Nhật Bản, thuộc Tập đoàn Toshiba. Chúng tôi tham gia phát triển phần mềm cho các hệ thống và giải pháp công nghiệp của tập đoàn Toshiba trong các lĩnh vực: Năng lượng, Hệ thống & Giải pháp Cơ sở Hạ tầng, Thiết bị Điện tử và Lưu trữ, Giải pháp IoT trong Công nghiệp. Hiện tại, TSDV có hơn 500 nhân sự làm việc tại VIT Tower, 519 Kim Mã, Ba Đình, Hà Nội.
2. Chương trình đào tạo - phát triển con người:
Kỹ sư phần mềm tại TSDV được yêu cầu tham gia đầy đủ quá trình phát triển phần mềm từ phân tích thiết kế, lập trình đến kiểm thử chất lượng phần mềm. TSDV hướng tới mục tiêu xây dựng mô hình kỹ sư toàn diện về tư duy/giải pháp phát triển phần mềm hơn là chỉ duy nhất kỹ năng lập trình. Những kỹ năng này sẽ được bổ sung và hoàn thiện dần trong quá trình làm việc và học tập tại TSDV.
Ngoài kỹ năng về lập trình chuyên nghiệp, kỹ sư phần mềm tại TSDV cần phải có những kiến thức chuyên môn đặc thù trong các lĩnh vực sản phẩm của Tập đoàn như năng lượng, hạ tầng xã hội, hệ thống công nghiệp, ... Những kiến thức này sẽ được bổ sung trong quá trình làm việc và học tập tại TSDV. Những ứng viên có nền tảng về các lĩnh vực liên quan là một lợi thế.
3. Dự án và sản phẩm:
Các sản phẩm phần mềm được phát triển bởi TSDV rất đa dạng, trải dài từ firmware sát với phần cứng, OS, Platform /Framework tới các ứng dụng dùng trong công nghiệp trên desktop hoặc trên nền tảng web. Ngoài ra, có các lĩnh vực phát triển công nghệ chuyên sâu như Embedded OS, Database, LSI, IoT, Robotics và Trí tuệ Nhân tạo. Do đó, kỹ sư phần mềm tại TSDV có nhiều lựa chọn về tính chất công việc. Đồng thời, kỹ sư phần mềm tại TSDV được kỳ vọng có khả năng thích ứng nhanh chóng với những yêu cầu về công nghệ có thể thay đổi ở từng dự án họ tham gia.
